An intergenerational storytelling game designed to capture the memories of our elders before they are lost.

Why I made this game

I created The Golden Thread because I vividly recall meaningful conversations with my grandparents that did not happen nearly often enough. Most of the time, we only scratched the surface: “How was school?”,  “Are you getting those good grades?”.Once in a while though, a magical door would open and let the stories flow. I would sit and listen in awe as my grandparents talked about their childhood, life during the war, how they met, anecdotes about my mum and dad as kids. The real deal.My grandparents passed away a long time ago, and I feel priviledged to be the custodian of those stories - to be grounded by my family’s traditions and values. But since we now live far from home, my own children don’t get to spend much time with their grandparents. I designed the Golden Thread to nudge these magical storytelling moments into existence - to make as many of these precious moments spent together as meaningful as possible.This isn’t a trivia game. It’s a conversation that might change what you know about the people you love most. It is about transmitting your family's immaterial wealth to the next generation.
